Pure Heart

Blessed are the pure in heart.

“Blessed are the pure in heart: For they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8) Let’s keep our hearts strong and pure for justice and equity. If we stick with our love and longing for equity–never wavering–I believe we will see God at work with us, in our struggles, our communities, in our land.

Praying for this steadfast, devoted energy, look for God and keep your heart strong. Connect with, love others with an open, honest heart … and I believe we’ll see God go to work making changes and miracles, creating the new world we now are dreaming of. ❤️💜

Forgiveness & Mercy

Blessed Are the Merciful, the Forgiving

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.” (Matthew 5:7) This teaching from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount counsels us to forgive others and we will be forgiven.

As a white person in the U.S., I know there is much that I hope to be forgiven for. Not in order to keep going along on my merry way, benefitting from white privilege in everything. But to be able to see and understand the systemic racism and many, many instances of injustice all around us, and make changes in my life so I can become a vehicle of justice and systemic change. Sometimes we also need to forgive ourselves, so we can find new life and a brand new and justice-inspired way of living.

Hunger & Thirst for It

Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness

Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness… and justice and love and morality and equity. THEY WILL BE FILLED!

These folks and their hunger and thirst are so important, so necessary, for us to actually get there. And build a NEW world of equity, love, and justice for all. Let’s BE and lift up these inspirational folks!! WE ALL WILL BE FILLED! Peace and blessings to everybody! ❤️💜

A New & Unsettling Force

Be a New and Unsettling Force

Today’s post is another artwork relating to the Poor People’s Campaign and its National Poor People and Low Wage Workers Assembly on 6/21/21. This piece illustrates the slogan “A NEW AND UNSETTLING FORCE.” To me, this slogan epitomizes the hope and strength and power we the people can BE and have when we come together in unity to change our lives and build equity and justice for all in our country.

Please join with me and #PoorPeoplesCampaign next Monday, June 21st at 5:30 p.m. ET for this online (and also in person in North Carolina) assembly demanding a #3rdReconstruction that will lift us all from the bottom up and and improve our lives so we all can rise. Let’s bring a true new world of equity and justice into being! We can do it if we stick together and go FORWARD, always forward, not one step back. Hope to see you next Monday and every day in the struggle for justice and what’s right. ❤️💜

Mighty Meekness

Blessed Are the Meek

Here I continue the look at people who will benefit from and thrive in God’s New World of Equity… (working with Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and in particular The Beatitudes). Jesus says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5). They will experience an earth with true justice for all, where those who have been down will be lifted up. And those long overlooked and discounted will be seen as the beloved folks they truly are, and their circumstances will be made equitable and right.

So who are these “meek” the scripture speaks of? I believe Jesus meant meekness as humility, not overrating oneself or acting/ feeling superior to others, but rather seeing oneself realistically, as a child of God equal to others but not better than anyone either. People with true humility will honor and lift up all God’s people in openness and love, respecting, practicing, implementing the Lord’s teachings about loving all people and seeing all people as worthy of EVERYTHING good–made as God tells us, in the image of God. ❤️💜

Forward Together!

Forward Together! Not One Step Back!

Hi there! Here’s another post of artwork relating to the Poor People’s Campaign and its National Poor People and Low Wage Workers Assembly on 6/21/21. This piece illustrates the slogan “Forward Together! Not One Step Back!” I really like this slogan because of the unity it embodies, and it calls out the perseverance, dedication, and determination we need to make real changes in our lives and in this country.

Please join with me and #PoorPeoplesCampaign next Monday at 5:30 p.m. ET for this online (and in person in NC) assembly demanding a #3rdReconstruction that will lift us all from the bottom up. So everybody rises and all our lives improve. So a true New World of Equity can come into being! ❤️💜

Everybody Rises!

Build From the Bottom Up/Everybody Rises!

Hi! I’m going to be joining online with the #PoorPeoplesCampaign on Monday 6/21/21 at 5:30pm ET for the National Poor People and Low Wage Workers Assembly to demand a #3rdReconstruction that lifts from the bottom up, so that everybody rises! Today I participated in a virtual Art Build meeting and made several art works illustrating some of the slogans, work, and goals of the Poor People’s Campaign. These are events, demonstrations, and work that will change our country, improve our lives, and make a difference for all of us. We can build a new world of equity and justice for all! Please join us on Monday 6/21; you can RSVP at 3rdreconstruction.org.

Those Who Mourn

Longing for a Change

This collage looks at “they that mourn,” and again, lifting up Jesus’ teachings in The Beatitudes, proclaims that such people are blessed “for they shall be comforted.”

In God’s Kingdom, the New World of Equity, people who are mourning will be heard and respected. Lives will improve and change for the better. So many of us mourn so very many people and things: losses of friends, family, health, relationships, jobs… And the lack of safety, security, access, freedom, justice, opportunity, success, money, accomplishments, support, education, unity, confidence …

We dream of and pray for a world where truth, love, honesty, fairness, hope, joy will prevail… Where we can be at peace instead of filled with worry and anxiety, on edge and on guard… Jesus prayed that this kingdom would come and succeed in growing life “on earth as it is in heaven.” I pray for this too, for ALL of us, each and every one. Peace and blessings today, everybody!❤️💜

This trouble won’t last always!

Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit

This collage looks at who will benefit from or be especially blessed in God’s New World of Equity… All people will rise and be lifted up, but some of the people scripture mentions in particular are those described in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (in The Beatitudes).

Here I focus on “the poor in spirit.” (Matthew 5:3). People whose spirit may be low or “blue”; maybe they’re sad or depressed… They might feel bad for any number of reasons, but among them might be being mistreated, oppressed, or discounted because of systemic racism and other “isms,” our U.S. caste system, corporate greed, etc.

The hope of a New World of Equity is that those who are “poor in spirit” would be revived and revitalized! The message is “This trouble won’t last always!” Especially as we work together in unity to bring about a new world of justice, fairness, and equity–without racism, and dedicated to honoring, respecting, and blessing ALL PEOPLE. We CAN overcome! ❤️💜

Love Your Neighbor

Love Your Neighbor

This collage reminds us of Jesus’ teaching (and commandment to us) to love other people as we love ourselves, in fact as we ourselves want to be loved. It also recalls the tasks Isaiah set before us when he prophesied: “If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually … and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail … you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in.” (Isaiah 58:10-12)

I want to add: We shall be uniters of the people, who for generations have been divided. May this dream be granted, as we come together in unity to work and play and love. All praise be to God!
