Every community needs peacemakers–lots and lots of them. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God,” Jesus tells us. (Matthew 5:9)
But let’s not forget the slogan, “No justice, no peace!” When there’s no justice, there will be no peace. People will always cry out in oppression and pain. In response to inequities and injustices, people will send out alarms and rallying calls. Battle cries will be heard wherever injustice reigns. Let’s keep our eyes and ears open for injustice. And keep our hearts and mouths open for truth-telling and liberation.
